Talks & Workshops

Invited organisations & individuals raise awareness of their sustainability message through talks and workshops presented at sites across Federation Square (19-21 February 2010).

What types of talks/workshops can be submitted?

Talks and workshops can cover a wide variety of topics including home, garden, transport, urban design, food, agriculture, health, parenting, ecopsychology, recreation, eco-tourism, economics, sustainable cooking demonstrations, ethics, politics, community development, conservation, biodiversity plus many more!

We encourage a variety of presentation formats including interactive group discussions/activities and larger public forums. Most sessions run for 50 minutes. We are particularly interested in creative ways of incorporating the Festival theme.

What are the benefits?

• An opportunity to highlight your programs, projects and services to a wide audience
• A speaking space at Melbourne's highest profile public venue, Federation Square
• A 12 month profile page on the Festival website
• Networking opportunities with other groups
• An opportunity to help bring about positive change

What are the guidelines for entry?

The Festival encourages deep creativity, so dare to dream. Talks/workshops will be selected according to:

• Topic’s relevance to SLF sustainable living
• Capacity to inspire and lead participants to adopt sustainable living actions
• Integration of the Festival’s 2010 theme in your talk/workshop: 'Get Ready for the Safe Climate Decade'
• Ability to engage, empower and include a diverse audience or targeted audience

How can I help promote the Festival?

To get the sustainable living message out there we need you to be part of the Festival’s promotions. Use your communication networks to spread the word about your presentation at the event. Your word of mouth efforts, magazines, newsletters, online calendars and website promotions are great ways to let your supporters know what you will be doing at the Festival. Please tell us about the publicity tools you plan to use in your application.
